Kakkanad is already getting congested and there is no more space left for development then why this place was choosed for Smart City.One should also think about employees who work at Smart city how they get back to their home after work and they should not struggle for hours in traffic jams.The distance from Airport to proposed Smart City location is almost 25KM and it takes almost 2 hrs during the peak traffic hours.There is heavy pollution due to the nearby Kochi Refineries.
Why not Nedumbassery was choosen as the site for Smart City as this is near to airport also close to NH47 Highway no traffic problem enough land for infrastructure and lush green pollution free place.

When kakkanad was chosen as the place for Smartcity, there was nothing in there in Kakkanad other than the collectorate. There were 1000s of acres of land, mostly unused. The land in Kakkanad was very cheap and it is just the announcement of SmartCity that made the land so expensive there. Also, all these flats, villas and new schools came there because of the SmartCity. If Nedumbasseri was chosen for SmartCity, the same or worse would have happened. There is not much free space available in Nedumbasseri other than the land acquired for Airport.
