In earlier days major shopping in Ernakulam was concentrated in Broadway. When the MG Road started developing the attention got diverted. The development of Bye pass had added to the neglect of Broadway. Now there is a happy news that the City Corporation has got the approval of a project for renovating Broadway and the fund has been sanctioned by the Central Government. The adjacent market also will be modified under the scheme.

Broadway is still a very busy shopping place, more than it can accommodate ! Many people like me try avoid shopping in broadway due to the traffic congestion there. Also, as you said, there are other areas in Ernakulam much better developed with more shopping centers. I still love the Ernakulam broadway.

Still Broadway is good for shopping but parking the vehicle is big problem. In 80's when we think about shopping first thing come into our mind is Broadway.
