    IT: Kerala vs Karnataka

Based on the data released by Infosys:

    * IT contributes to 25% GDP of Karnataka.

What about Kerala? May be 0.1 percent. The balance is from gulf/expatriates.

    * IT sector provides employment to 2.5 lakhs professionals in Karnataka. It is expected to grow by another one lakh this year.

What about Kerala? May be 11,000 at the most.

    * Karnataka's software exports to touch 400,000 crores this year.

    Kerala?? 300 crores :))

Karnataka has the highest tax collection under VAT, mainly because of the IT.

    No comments about Kerala.

Despite having a headstart in this area, why do we lag so much? It is only because of our irrational obsession with the govt sector. It is time to wake up to the reality. If we need growth then we need the active participation of the private sector.

Thanks Efby, for sharing the data.

Karnataka's exports must be 40,000 crores I suppose. 400,000 must be a typo.

Better late than never. One whole generation has lost their opportunity to a decent life. I see guys in their late 30's still writing PSC tests. And suing the Government to extend age limit to 45 :-(

Kerala politicians are criminals. Sadly their sheep are yet to realize the true face of this Hartal mafia.

Yes Pappu. It is 40,000 crores. Thanks for the correction.
