Maharajas College, Ernakulam
Maharajas College, Ernakulam is one of the famous Colleges in Kerala situated in the middle of Kochi. This is also one of the oldest Government educational institutions in Kerala which was established in 1875. The College was affiliated to Mahathma Gandhi University of Kerala which is centered in Kottayam. The Motto of the college is "Vidyayamruthamasnuthe", which is a Sanskrit quote meaning "The one who possesses knowledge becomes immortal".
The College has a campus of almost 10 acres and is situated on the serene banks of Vembanad Lake. Since the College was built during in the ninetieth century by Royal Kingdom of Cochin, some of the constructional features have a taste of olden period along with the modern architecture. The college has good facilities for studying, sports and extra curricular activities. The school is now coordinated by the principal, Prof. M S Viswambharan.

Maharajas College, Ernakulam has good faculties for departments like English, Botany, Arabic, Zoology, Sanskrit, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, Hindi, History, Islamic History, Malayalam, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Physical Education, Physics, Politics, Statistics etc. UG and PG courses are available for almost all the subjects with excellent faculties.
The College has good facilities for studies and recreation. It has an established library which includes the general library, language and research center library and department library. The general library sections are again classified in to lending sections and reference sections. The libraries will be available from 9 AM to 4 PM on every working day. Internet facilities are available in the college for further reference.
The college also has a big ground which can be used as a cricket ground as well as a football ground. The outer of the ground runs a synthetic track which suits for Athletics. There are also provisions for Badminton, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis, Ring-Tennis, Throw-Ball, Volleyball & Table Games. The students are free to choose their categories. The college also have a sports committee consisting of Principal as the president and this itself shows their commitment towards sports and games.
The college also has excellent hostel facilities for both men and women with considerable fee. The College also have a canteen with all types of food available in cheap rates.
