Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Eranakulam is one of the best schools in Eranakulam under Central Government. The school was established in 1987 and is affiliated to CBSE. Actually the concept of Navodaya schools comes from the Rajiv Gandhi, The former Prime Minister of India. His aim for starting Navodaya Schools is to give quality education to the talented students of each district in India. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for Eranakulam district is situated in a place known as Neeriyamangalam, which is 60 kms away from Kochi. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Neeryamangalam comes under Hyderabad region of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi. The peculiarity of Navodaya Vidyalayas is that the education is completely free including food, accommodation and clothing.
Admission Procedure in JNV Ernakulam
All the students who have passed 5th standard in Eranakulam is eligible to apply for admission in this school. There will be an entrance exam for the selection of students. Only 80 talented students will selected for one academic year. There is reservation for OBC, SC and ST students. The application form will be on the school website or you can buy directly from school. The entrance exam will be consisting of three types of questions, which test the mental ability, mathematics understanding and language power of the students. The medium of examination in both Malayalam and English. After the student become qualified in the examination, then there will be a formal interview. Now Navodayas are also giving entry in 9th class by the same procedure.
Fee Structure in JNV Ernakulam
The education is free for boys till 8th standard. Starting from 9th standard, a monthly fee of Rs.200 should be remitted monthly. There will be no extra payment for food, books, clothes and accommodation. For BPL students and other economically backward students, there is fee reduction or no fee. And for girl child, education is completely free from 6th standard to 12th standard.
Academics, Faculties and Extra Curricular Activities
Jawahar navodaya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam is having a good number of high quality teachers from all over India, specialized in various subjects. This itself proves the academic standard of the school. The students are given all modern facilities like Internet, libraries etc for their studies. Teachers are always available with the students for 24 hours to clarify their doubts and personal problem. Its like big joint family including students and teachers. The school also provide good opportunities in Co-curricular activities which includes sports, creative talents etc. Almost all games are available here and students can play with their own interest. There will be musical classes and drawing classes for interested students. Navodayas have its own sports meet and cultural meet.
