Dawn Public school is an unique School in the sense that it was founded by the parents themselves.
Extra Curricular Activities at Dawn International School
At the school additional emphasis is laid on Fine Arts and other extracurricular activities, that is Classical Dance, Keyboard, Guitar, Violin, Classical and Western Music and others.
Yoga, Swimming, Karate, Horseback Riding, Personal Development, along with Club and House activities are also there for the personality development of the students.
There is a professional teacher present exclusively for fine arts and crafts and for photography as well.
Students dine together with teachers on Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisines, which includes breakfast, soup/juice break, lunch, and tea. Food is overseen by a student/teacher committee to insure the right choice and quality.
All the classrooms, school buses and the hostel in this school are air conditioned.
French, Hindi, and Malayalam are available as languages.Teacher student ration is 1:20 as per international standards to provide excellent personal attention and care.
Course of Studies at Dawn International School
The school is an associate institute of ExtraLearn International College, U.K., which delivers EdExcel IGCSE and GCE ‘A’ level qualifications. The medium of instruction is English. IGCSE is equivalent to Class 9 & 10; GCE.’AS’ level is equivalent to Class 11; GCE.’A’ level is equivalent to Class 12.
EdExcel’s IGCSE and GCE ‘A’ Level qualifications are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to the +2 stage qualification of and Indian Board.
IGCSE qualification has a broad and balanced curriculum which provides students an international perspective to their studies.
Subjects offered at IGCSE level are:
English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business Studies, Geography, Economics and Art & Design
Students are supposed to take any 5 of the above subjects for their course of study while language English is compulsory. Those who intend to pursue medical/engineering degree programs or a bachelors degree program at any of the Indian Universities are required to obtain 5 passes at IGCSE level with grades A, B, or C in their appropriate subjects.
GCE (General Certificate of Education) A Level Curriculum
A level has 2 years, in the first year it is known as AS (Advanced Study) units and equals class 11 and in the second year they are known as A2 units equivalent to class 12.
Subjects offered at GCE Level are English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Business Studies, Geography, Economics, General Studies, Art & Design and Physical Education.
Students are supposed to take any of the 5 subjects with English as compulsory. Those who plan to join any of the Indian universities are required to obtain 5 passes at GCE levels with A,B or C Grades.
Additional Qualifications in English Language at Dawn International School
In addition to the subjects offered at IGCSE level and GCE (A)level, the school prepares students for International level as recognized English Language qualifications of the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. They do it with the help of ExtraLearn and these qualifications are developed and accredited by EdExcel with additional assessment tests conduted by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
