Its about a small adventurous journey through the Illithode(Mulamkuzhi) - Bothathankettu - Edamalayar Forest..situated in Ernakulam District at a distance of not more than 60Kms from the heart of the town.
Route of this travel.. From Ernakulam to Kalady, there one should avail permission from the Forest Department , Kalady Range circle for travelling through the forest. After taking the permission move on kalady-Malayatoor route, from malayatoor adivaram take a right turn before reaching kurishumudi to Illithode (Mulamkuzhi). Here you can have a bath in the Periyar fresh river ( Be ware..! any carelesness can lead to danger..!). Show the pass at the Forest check post for entering into the forest. If you are lucky enough, chances of seeing Elephant, Bison & other animals. Let your camera be ready for getting snaps of these. You will be entering the Edamalayar forest range , where Edamalayar Dam is situtaed. On return you can take the way by Boothathankettu, where one can spent times in the park & other activities.
