Maritime Museum is located in the INS Dronarcharya and the Museum highlights the major land marks in the Indian History. The museum is located at the Fort Kochi Beach at about 20 kilometers from the city. The visiting time here is from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
India is one of the top ten naval powers of the world and it owes the glory to the hard working men of the commendable Naval force of India. Cochin Maritme Museum is the dedicarion of the country to the sincere efforts the navy had put in when the country needed them the most.
As and when you enter the Naval Museum you can see the way the Navy had evolved with time, ancient trade links Kerala had from the days of Indus Valley Civilization with the Arabs. The famous maritime hero Kunjali Marakkar, who was the pioneer of the Indian naval fleet and fought the intentions of Portuguese to settle down in Kozhikode, has a special place dedicated to him in the museum. There are different sections in the museum highlighting intesresting aspects of the IndianNaval Force like shipbuilding, evolution of the Indian navy since the year 1600, wars fought and victories of the navy, etc You can even find information on the wars fought by the Indian Navy Goa liberation, Indo-Pak conflicts of 1965 and 1971, Operation Cactus (Maldives), Operation Pawan and planned drills during Kargil war recently.
