Muriyamangalam Narasimha Swamy temple is an ancient one, located in Tripunithura in the district of Ernakulam of Kerala, India.
The Lord Narasimha is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is an Ugra avatar of Lord Maha Vishnu who came to earth for restoring dharma.
Lord Narasimhamurthy came to restore devotion and prayers to the Lord, when the King Hiranyakashipu disallowed prayers to Lord Vishnu in his Kingdom and even decided to kill his own son for disobeying him. The Lord took the form of Narasimha ( nara - human and simha - lion) to restore the faith of his devotees.
The Lord has taken the form half lion and half human that is lion like face with 4 hands on a human torso. It is believed that the Lord has the ability to cure any type of illness as well as free them from the black magic problems.
The main festival of this temple is a six day long one which starts on April-May month ending with Aarattu on the final day. Arcahna, Muzhukkappu, Niramala, Pizhinjupayasam, Palppayasam and Dhara are the main offerings.
