Vamanamurthy temple is located in the village of Thrikkakara very close to the city of Kochi.
Vamanamurthy is the fifth incarnation / avatar of Lord Vishnu. The temple has a large number of lithic records of great historical inferences. Inscriptions are found in the temple from the time of 10th to 13 th century.
Vamamuthry temple / Thrikkakara temple is located at about 10 km east of Kochi city, between Alwaye and Kalamassery. The Village Thrikkakara has beautiful landscape with its beautiful scenes of the river, hills and paddy fields in and around it. The Lord Vishnu presiding here is known as Thrikkakaraappan or Vamanamurthy.
The annual festival of the Vamanamurthy temple is celebrated in Chingam masam of the malayalam calender, that is from the mid August to mid september that is, the Onam festival time. There is a grand feast or Sadya as it is called in malayalam, is held at the temple. People throng to participate in the feast held there irrespective of caste. religion or creed.
