Indoa Portuguese Museum is a museum in Fort Kochi of the Ernakulam District of Kerala India, Kerala, India. This Museum is located inside the Bishops house compound in Fort Kochi.
Dr. Joseph Kureethra, Bishop of Kochi, was the person who took efforts to bring about the museum, in a bid to protect and display the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and the Portuguese influence.
The Museum now showcases the influences the Portuguese style had on Fort Kochi and the surrounding areas, mostly, on the western parts of Kochi city.
Altar, Treasure, Procession, Civil Life and Cathedral are the five main sections of the Indo Protuguese museum.
There are items placed there from different churches like a piece of the altar made in teak (16th century) from the Church of Our Lady of Hope, Vypeen, a chasuble (19th century) from Bishop's House, Fort Kochi, processional cross, which is a combination of silver and wood (17th century) from Santa Cruz Cathedral, Fort Kochi, Indo-Portuguese Monstrance (18-19th century), from The Church of Our Lady of Hope, Vypeen.
