Pareekshit Thampuran Museum located near the temple of Lord Shiva, in the Durbar Hall Road of the Kochi city in Ernakulam District. This museum is counted amongst one of the best museums in the whole of Indian subcontinent.
In the early days the area was used for receiving visitors and guests who come to see the Kochi royal family and also as a place for official ceremonies and meetings.
The most attractive part of the palace is the Durbar hall of the Kochi Raja, which has a typical, traditional, Kerala style structure.
Pareekshit Thampuran Museum is a very good archeological museum and has good and impressive collection of 19th century paintings, ancient monuments and coins scriptures made in stone and Plaster of Paris, murals as well as memorabilia belonging to the Cochin royal family.
